Committee

Committee Roles

President

The President chairs all Committee meetings and is responsible for co-ordinating the committee and advancing the society as a whole.  Organisation of the Dinner is also primarily the responsibility of the President.

 

Vice-President

The Vice-President is responsible for two major tasks: firstly to arrange talks and events throughout the year with external bodies and people; secondly, to liaise with other law societies on campus, the Law School and various other committees.

 

Treasurer

The Treasurer administers the society's funds, including applying or helping in the application for union funding and sourcing external sponsorship.  The Treasurer is also responsible for Clothing orders.

 

Secretary

The Secretary organises the Society; this includes taking minutes at Committee meetings, preparing agendas with matters arising and emailing members about upcoming events.

 

Social Secretary

The Social Secretary is responsible for organising society socials and promoting members to attend social situations which allow them to talk to other members.

 

Stage One Liaison Officer

 

 

Law Fair Secretary

The Law Fair Secretary is responsible for the Law Fair and for liaising with all the Law Firms attending the Fair in October.

Marketing Secretary

 

 

Special Advisor

This Office is not elected, but requires the holder to have held an elected Office on a previous Kent Student Law Society Committee. The holder of this Office does not have voting rights in normal committee meetings, but carry influence and experience.

 

IT Officer

Like Special Advisor, this Office is also not elected, but appointed by the Committee each year - usually at their first meeting following the AGM. The IT Officer's role is to update, maintain and be overall responsible for the web site and the mailing list.
